Laser Treatment for Pigmented lesions – Post Treatment Instructions
- Use gentle cleansers and cool water, pat dry.
- Moisturize the treated areas with a gentle moisturizer.
- Do not use exfoliators, scrubs, retinols, Retin A, acid based products (alpha Hydroxyl acid, glycolic acid, salicylic acid, and lactic acid) in the treated areas for 2 weeks.
- If you have significant discomfort and or excessive redness in the areas, you may use cool compresses intermittently or an anti-inflammatory cream until the swelling resolves.
- If a blister or crusting forms do not pick, rub or scratch it. Apply a topical antibiotic ointment to the area and call the office.
- Avoid sun or tanning booths in the treated areas for the duration of your treatments. Unless otherwise instructed. Apply SPF 30 or better to the areas regularly.
- Avoid heat and hot water for 24 hours.
- Mild exercise is OK; Refrain from abdominal crunches, high impact exercise, or any activity that will result in a rapid increase in venous pressure for 24 hours.
- Cosmetics may be worn when tolerated, and should not contain alcohol or ingredients that may irritate the treated skin.
- Refrain from smoking, alcoholic beverages or aspirin based products for 24 hours.
